The allotment

All Saints’ Church rents an allotment from Huntingdon Town Council on the Hartford Road site. This is worked as a place to grow flowers for church, produce to be made into other things like chutneys and food to be eaten by those who work the land or at a particular Church events such as our Harvest lunch.

You don’t need any skills to join in working on the allotment, just enthusiasm and a bit of time, all ages are welcome. We have meetings, send emails to discuss what to grow and what needs doing and it really helps having other allotment holders nearby who also come to church.

In 2011 we grew Courgettes, Runner beans, Dwarf Beans, Beetroot,Carrots, Tagetes, Marigolds, Sunflowers, Echinacea flowers, Pumpkins, Tomatoes, Sweet corn, Onions, Lettuce, Raspberries, Strawberries, Broccoli, Brussel  Sprouts.

In 2013 we have used some of the space to grow flowers for the church.  We have been able to provide flowers from June - October for church.

Each year the Town Centre Anglicans hold a harvest lunch usually serving  soup that was made with allotment produce.  Flowers for the table and general decoration also comes from the allotment.
